Radio and Walkie Talkie Hire.

We have a growing range of walkie talkies available for short and long term hire to suit different budgets and needs. Our rates are very reasonable. The radios we supply have been chosen to offer good value but also good performance, typically significantly better than the cheap Baofeng radios often found on the market.

Our Motorola digital handhelds are rugged, rain proof and particularly immune to interference. This helps ensure good range and clear communications. Our Anytone 878 radios are sophisticated but rugged GPS equipped radios for when you need to track the exact location of each radio user. Our Retevis RT3S radios are a budget alternative that still offers good performance. All our radios are compatible with each other and our repeaters and other infrastructure options. When you hire radios from us our each radio will be programmed with at least 4 channels. Our Ofcom licence covers the frequencies in the radios you hire from us keeping you legal. We can also provide earpieces,headsets and extra batteries if needed.
Our radios are normally supplied in sets of 6 as each set comes with a 6 way charger. However other quantities are available on request.

We can advise on whether you need UHF or VHF radios. For most applications UHF is preferred, however for long range communications VHF may be preferable. W even have a fleet of Low Band VHF radios particularly good for cross country applications.

BUDGET OPTION: Low cost but capable radios.

The Retevis RT3S is a compact digital handheld radio. It outputs 4W. It is shower proof and has good overall performance. This is our budget option and we don’t recommend this radio for mission critical applications but it is great for general purpose communications at smaller events (up to 50 radio users). Although the range of any radio depends on the location, buildings, trees etc we suggest that this radio is suitable for applications where a range of up to 1 mile is required.

To hire a set of 6 Retevis RT3S radios we charge £65 per week or £235 per month.

MOTOROLA OPTION: Rugged, professional radios.

We recommend our Motorola digital handhelds for larger events where a radio with a better receiver can reduce interference problems and increase the range compared to other lesser radios. These are rugged, professional, digital radios that are rain proof, built for outdoor use. They feature Motorola’s enhanced encryption with an option for ultra secure AES encryption making your communications secure, ideal for security, film and TV production, medical or other commnucations where privacy is important. Although the range of any radio depends on the location, buildings, trees etc we suggest that this radio is suitable for applications where a range of up to 2 miles is required. If you need to cover a larger area a repeater can be added (see below).

To hire a set of 6 Motorola handheld digital walkie talkies we charge £115 for up to 1 week, £220 for 2 weeks and £400 per month.

REPEATERS AND BASE STATIONS:

For events that take place over larger areas you may need a repeater or base station. We recommend that you contact us to discuss your needs, we are here to help. But to give an idea of the costs a duplex repeater cost £125 per week to hire, £400 per month. A digital duplex repeater will give you 2 channels that can be used at the same time compared to the 1 channel available on an analog repeater. With digital radios it is possible to have several independent user groups on each channel however a single channel can only accommodate one conversation at a time. For smaller events we can also offer state of the art SFR (single frequency) repeaters. These digital repeaters only have a single channel but installation and setup is very easy. To hire an SFR repeater the cost is £80 per week, £285 per month. In most cases the repeater will need to be installed at a suitable location with mains electricity and an external antenna and we recommend the installation is done by ourselves although the SFR repeaters can be setup by most people. We can also provide generator or solar powered systems with antenna masts where necessary.
